The California buttercup is yellow and the leaves of the buttercup grow in groups of three.
buttercup grows in wet pastures and meadows also in grassy lands and hills. they grow during february through April.In the middle ages buttercups were gathered in meadows to try to cure lunatics. They also grow in wet places such as near quicksand.
Native americans boiled the roots and roasted the seeds like popcorn. the raw seeds are poisonous that is why they do not eat them. Poisoning can occur where buttercups are abundant in overgrazed fields were little other edible plant growth is left.
Fact
Buttercup grows 2-3 tall and has white sauser-shaped flowers that bloom in late spring and early summer.
The plant gets crushed and applied as a poulice to the chest to relief colds and chest pains. The poulticed root is also rubefacient and was applied to boils and abscess.
